Picture Addition

Using objects in your classroom, make a model of two sets (that add to 10 or less). Open Pic Collage and select freestyle. Take a picture using the Camera on your iPad. Next, type a number sentence that goes with your picture. Finally change the background and type your name. You can make another model and follow the same steps if you have time. Share with a classmate when finished.

iPads: Google Drive/Docs (Grade 5)

We’ll begin by reviewing what you should remember when using an iPad in school. When you get your device, sign in to the Google Drive app first. Create a folder for grade 4 and move all documents that you created last year into that folder. Then, go to the Google Docs app. Finish and check the technology @ home document that you started last week on the computers. Be sure to sign out of your account when finished.

Fall Poetry

Let’s head outside with the iPads and take photographs of the fall foliage. Take up to five photos using the Camera app and delete any photos you don’t want in the camera roll. In class you’ll brainstorm ideas and write a poem about the fall. Use the Pic Collage app to add the photos and type the poem. Your finished poetry will be on a bulletin board display outside your classroom.

iLearn Continents & Oceans

Locate the continents on the iPads using Google Earth. Then, test your knowledge with the names of the continents and oceans using the iLearn app. Review the 7 continents and 5 oceans by tapping the Learn button. Then, see how many you can identify in one minute by playing the game, or take the test for the untimed version. You can also try the Map Puzzles app if you have extra time.

Poetry Podcast

Type one of the poems you’ve written using either the Pic Collage or Drawing Pad app. Add a background, pictures, or drawings to enhance your poem. Once finished, save to the camera roll and upload to your teacher’s folder on Dropbox. The poetry from your class will be uploaded to the Book Creator app, where you’ll record your voice reading the poem.
