Greetings Cottage Cougars,
I hope you are enjoying the summer break. I’ve been traveling and spending time with my family. My son Liam (7 months old) loves exploring new places.
We have over 200 iPads, about 75 laptops, and approximately 50 desktop computers that are getting prepared for the new school year. That’s a lot of devices for kids and teachers to use! Technology will guide you on many learning adventures this year.
Enjoy what’s left of summer vacation and I look forward to seeing you soon!

Cyberbullying can be a problem when you’re chatting online. After watching the video, At a Distance, we’ll talk about the ways the girl was bullied online. Think about what you should do if you are ever cyberbullied.

Get to know the Scratch Jr. programming language on the iPads. You can try out a few tutorials to learn how to make characters do things like move, jump, and dance. Or, you can explore on your own. Once you get to know the language, then you can create your own story using a background and characters.
In this activity you’re going to build an animated story using the Scratch programming language. First, you’ll animate ocean waves with a sequence of instructions for the computer, then, you’ll use that animation to create a story with dialogue. To do all this, you’ll watch instructional videos on the CS First website, and you’ll code your project on the Scratch website.
